CASE NO:1:17-CV-05846
CASE STATUS: Settled
SETTLEMENT AMOUNT: $3,250,000
COURT: UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF ILLINOIS, EASTERN DIVISION
Siegel Law Group served as co-lead counsel and obtained a $3,250,000 settlement in this wage and hour lawsuit against Caidan Management Company, LLC on behalf of approximately 845 individuals employed as salaried Care Management Employees in Illinois and Michigan during the time period at issue. Led by Jack Siegel of Siegel Law Group, the plaintiffs brought this unpaid overtime case alleging violations of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, 29 U.S.C. § 201, et seq. (“FLSA”), the Illinois Minimum Wage Law, and the Michigan Workforce Opportunity Wage Act. The case was litigated in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and was captioned Slaughter et al. v. Caidan Management Company, LLC, No. 1:17-cv-05846.
The plaintiffs were Care Management Employees whose job duties included utilization review, case coordination, and related health management services. Plaintiffs alleged that they routinely worked more than forty (40) hours per workweek but were denied overtime compensation. Instead, Plaintiffs were classified as exempt and received a flat salary. Plaintiffs claimed they performed their duties in accordance with Defendant’s policies and under time-pressured conditions, yet were not paid at one and one-half times their regular rate of pay for hours worked over forty (40). The settlement resolved the claims alleged in the action.
