CASE NO: 1:20-CV-00736

CASE STATUS: Settled

SETTLEMENT AMOUNT: $300,000

COURT: UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE MIDDLE DISTRICT OF NORTH CAROLINA

Siegel Law Group served as co-lead counsel and obtained a $300,000 settlement in this wage and hour lawsuit against Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Solutions on behalf of approximately 31 individuals employed as salaried “I/DD Care Coordinators” during the time period at issue. Led by Jack Siegel of Siegel Law Group, the plaintiffs brought this unpaid overtime case alleging violations of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, 29 U.S.C. § 201, et seq. (“FLSA”). The case was litigated in the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina and was captioned Ford et al. v. Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Solutions, No. 1:20-cv-00736.

The plaintiffs were I/DD Care Coordinators whose job duties consisted primarily of care management work. Plaintiffs routinely worked well over forty (40) hours per workweek, but were not paid any overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of forty hours per week. Instead, Plaintiffs received a flat salary for their work. Plaintiffs primarily claimed that they were improperly classified as exempt employees by Cardinal Innovations and were not paid overtime when they worked more than forty (40) hours per week. The settlement resolved the claims alleged in the action.
